Champagne Marie Copinet

Champagne Marie Copinet

Champagne Marie Copinet's wines are true expressions of tradition and dedication, with their winery nestled in the heart of Montgenost, just an hour southwest of Épernay. Run by Marie-Laure Copinet and her husband Alexandre Kowal - both from storied Champagne families - the estate was established in the 1970s by Marie Laure’s father, Jacques Copinet. Today, Marie-Laure and Alexandre passionately manage the vineyards, cultivating 10 hectares across three exceptional terroirs in the Champagne region: Côte de Sézanne, Côte des Bar, and Vallée de la Marne.

Specializing in all three classic Champagne varieties, i.e. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and  Meunier, Marie-Laure converted her family's vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming since taking over the domaine in 2000. Her low-intervention approach, including wild yeast fermentation, extended lees aging, minimal dosage, and prolonged élevage in bottle, ensures each and every bottle reflects the unique character of the land and terroir where their vines are grown.

Her wines range from the refined elegance of the Blanc de Blancs, a true embodiment of her house style, to super vibrant, racy, single-vineyard expressions that showcase the distinct personality of each parcel. In a landscape dominated by a handful of large, powerful conglomerate producers who have almost a monopoly control over all the grape growers, Marie-Laure's commitment to crafting authentic, small-batch Grower champagnes using her own estate fruit offers a refreshing alternative that champions the essence of terroir, tradition and honest craftsmanship. Total production is quite tiny - only 5,500 cases across multiple cuvées, so these wines are quite rare indeed!
