Domaine Guiberteau

Domaine Guiberteau

The wines of Domaine Guiberteau needs no introduction with its brilliantly mineral, intensely profound and mind-blowing cuvées crafted with utmost precision on the chalky limestone soils of Saumur, France. They are, in our opinion, some of the classiest and perhaps, sexiests wines from the beautiful Loire Valley.

Mentored by the late Nady Foucault of the revered Clos Rougeard, the talented Romain Guiberteau took over the reins of the family's domaine fully in 1996, rejuvenating the estate and propelling it to become one of the most sought-after superstar domaines in France with his exceptionally made and seductively suave Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs.

The Guiberteau estate now owns approximately 17ha of some of the most illustrious and famous terroirs in Saumur, where 8.5ha is planted with Chenin Blanc and the rest, Cabernet Franc. Organic (certified since 2003) farming, minimal intervention, native yeasts, no additives and bare minimum sulphur use (usually only at bottling) are practised here. Naturally, production is miniscule and most of Romain's wines are tightly allocated to some of the best restaurants around the globe.
