Planted in 1963 with "massale selection" cuttings on a tiny 21-acre parcel, adjacent to the lieu-dit of "Les Vignes Franches", this Beaune 1er Cru "Pertuisots" 2008 was quite brash and unyielding after its initial release but we are excited to report that it is now drinking quite beautifully!
The wine has changed from its original deep, slightly purplish ruby red to one that has shades of garnet red, with a light bricking rim. Floral and perfumed with lots of red flowers, dried strawberries, cinnamon, mandarin peel, dried hawthorn and Chinese liquorice roots, held together by tart, mouth-watering red fruits, sweet spice and gentle, fully integrated oak flavours that only time can unfurl. A lovely wine to sip on with some Christmas turkey and honey glazed ham we think!
