Clos des Carmes is considered to be one of the Grand Crus of the Loire Valley. This historic site on the hills of Brézé was acquired by Romain's grandfather in 1955. Romain's flagship wine is made from the highest quality grapes sourced from this particular small plot through some stringent selection process (the rest of the grapes are then declassified into other wines, mostly Brézé). Fermented in a mix of new and used barrels by indigenous yeast before spending 18 months or more in barrels on fine lees. A cellar worthy gem that's almost impossible to find these days.
